THE GREAT SHEPHERD

📖 Psalm 23:1-6 NLT

The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3. He renews my strength. He guides me along the right paths, bringing honor to his name. 4. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

🔷️ LORD IS MY SHEPHERD = Sheep need a Shepherd.  To care for them, to guide them, to protect them, to restore them, to redeem them.  Why, because Sheep are not very wise on their own.  I hate to say it, as I am one also, but Sheep are dumb.  Here are some interesting facts about sheep and how we compare to them.

  • Sheep are incredibly caring mothers who form deep bonds with their babies.

  • They have long-term memories, just like humans can remember individuals for many years at a time.

  • The self-medicate.  When not feeling well they will seek out plants and substances that make them feel better. Just like humans do.

Why was the Lord chosen to shepherd the flock because He loves them John 10:11 tells us the Great Shepherd sacrifices his life for sheep. When the wolves come for the sheep Jesus stands in the way of them. He does not run from them, he does not hide from them.  The wolves do not come into the pasture and destroy.  This only happens when the sheep wander out. (Isaiah 53:6) [ He cared for them. He fed them, he led them, and he protected them ]

  • He shepherds us when we are young and when we are old.

  • Sheep that go astray and turned from Christ   📖 Isaiah 53:6 || Return to Jesus  📖 1 Peter 2:25   📖 Psalms 119:176

🖲 I SHALL NOT WANT … =  God Provides as we reside in him. * CONTENTMENT *

  • 📖 Proverbs 3:25-26 tells us we need not be afraid of what is in the world as Jesus keeps us safe from evil schemes IF we live in God’s wisdom we will have peace of mind.

ðŸ”·️ WHAT DOES JESUS PROVIDE US?  📖 Isaiah 12:2

  • Salvation = found only in Jesus 📖 Acts 4:12 | who is the only way 📖 John 14:6

  • Love = only Jesus could give when he exchanged his life for yours.  📖 John 15:13

  • Mercy =  Jesus had compassion on us 📖 Luke 6:36 and ask us to do the same 📖 Luke 10:37

  • Courage = Jesus set the example of Courage when he accepted his fate in the Garden of Gethsemane 📖 Matt. 26:35-56, Mark 14:32-52, Luke 22:39-53, John 18:1-12. | Jesus provides the calmness in the middle of life storm.  📖 Matthew 14:27-28

  • Strength = In a time of weakness, Jesus is our strength 📖 2 Corinthians 12:9

Condemnation and Crucifixion

Some of the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into their headquarters and called out the entire regiment. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him. They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!” And they spit on him and grabbed the stick and struck him on the head with it. When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified. Matthew 27-31

Here we on a day known to many today as Good Friday.  Jesus was taken from the garden of Gethsemane….down the mountain to Annas  house, where they began looking  for an accusation to make their case.  It was somewhat a stall tactic until the Sanhedrin gathered at the high priestly villa (mark 14:53-15:47) This is the 1st Trial.  On the 2nd trial Jesus is condemned and misused –Jesus tells them he will be seated at God’s right hand, and is accused of blasphemy all the while they spit on him, they , blind fold and beat Him. Outside in the courtyard his most trusted ally, Peter is denying he knows his Master, (Luke 22:54–23:56) –the 3rd Trial is more of the same, and at this time…Peter as denied Jesus for a 3rd time….the rooster crows….Peter run away weeping bitterly….Jesus is now taken to the Romans (john 18:13)….

  • Fourth trial before Pilate [till "beginning at Galilee"] Fifth trial before Herod [looks for miracle] 6th trial  back again before Pilate

    • Jesus finally turned over to be crucified
    • Jesus mocked (Roman soldiers); crown of thorns
    • Judas hangs himself
    • Jesus bears His cross to gate on north of city and is crucified around 9 am

On the Cross now for sometime...the blood has drained....but not the pain... He still needs to breath....gravity is winning the battle for breathable air.  Jesus would have to find some strength to stretch upward to gain a breath or he would not be able to speak...then once he caught a breath would have  no strength and  sink again... He would have to do this over and over in order to keep speaking--no doubt this move us unspeakably painful, and it;s no doubt He kept doing it until all He needed to say was done....like :

    • "Father, forgive them..."
    • "Today...with me in paradise"
    • "Woman, behold thy son..." [darkness: noon – 3 pm]
    • "My God, My God..."
    • "I thirst"
    • "It is finished"
    • "Into Thy hands..."

About 3 pm; veil torn, rocks rent; some graves opened and people rise [to mortality] and go into the city
    • Jesus' side pierced
    • Passover lambs slain in temple
    • Jesus buried by sundown
*** JESUS CARRIED YOUR BRICKS OF SIN ***
SEE THIS PICTURE ON THE LEFT-- THIS IS WHY JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS---THESE ON THE LEFT ARE WHY JESUS CAME---TOO MAKE IT RIGHT.

He wore them….He bore them….and they tore Him….they are adam & eve’s sin….king David’s sins….and your sins.  He wore the Crown….He bore the Cross…..was tore by the nails.

show me anywhere....of anyone in history--- where more love was shown to more people spread over a time we can't even measure.  Jesus loves you this much, that you got to commit the crime, and He took the punishment.  You can't make up for it...you can't earn it....all you can do is accept the free gift of salvation that killed him, and take the greatfulness and grattitude you feel and serve Him always...

    Parables & Prophecy

The disciples were amazed when they saw this and asked, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”  Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Matthew 21:21-22

It’s now day 7--Jesus starts the morning off traveling again from Bethany to Jerusalem, and they see the fig tree, that according to Mark 1212-14, had now died, and the disciples were shocked. Jesus just told them in direct words-- you have to have F.A.I.T.H.--that includes ZERO doubt, and they (we) could do these things as well.  Jesus once again in His ministry advocating the importance of F.A.I.T.H.

Today which for us is tuesday marks the last day that Jesus will travel and teach.  This day has been called by some a day of controversy, or a day of rejection--it’s both.  I call it a day of Parables & Prophecy.  Jesus is teaching anyone in earshot, good life lessons, and to watch for things to come.  Matthew 21:23 - 24:51 is where you will find the most in one continuous reading.  As this will be lengthening in explaining in detail, i have just given you some highlights  in short.  I would encourage you to study them in detail....some are for then and now.  Some are yet to come, and need to be watched for. Remember there is no such thing as “singular” when Jesus teaches, these parables have many layers.

    • Jesus authority questioned (Matt. 21:23-27)-- in the temple courts Jesus goes right on teaching, always the priority for Him.  The Priest and Elders demand wanted to know what right He had for making a mess in the temple.  He challenged  them with a question on john baptism coming from God or man.  They could not answer, therefore Jesus did not answer them.  They didn’t want truth..they wanted an excuse to discredit Jesus, and his ministry would become a joke.---nope--didn’t happen...moving on....
    • The Parable of the 2 sons (Matt. 21:28-32) --also this is a good lesson for all--it was targeted at the Priest and those associated with them.
    • The Parable of the Tenants (Matt.21:33-46, mark.12:1-12, luke 20:9-19) -- there is so much here to break down, but in short, God owns the vineyard..collected rent from the jews--in the O.T. they were warned by prophet after prophet that the rent was due--as their fruit was not worthy--the jews mistreated their tenants or the prophets by beating them...by killing them. God decided the vineyard is mishandled and others will get to tend it..God sent Jesus--and again the jews would not share the vineyard, and killed Him..but in doing so--the vineyard is now shared by all---gentiles alike...anyone who follows Jesus.
    • The Parable of the Wedding Banquet (matt. 22:2-1matt4, luke 14:16)in short-- Jesus is offering a salvation-- a lasting relationship with the creator--in a place our heart longs for--but our mouth can’t speak, and our minds can’t fully grasp.  In this invitation there are sadly not many takers--those who ignore the first invitation are the jews...when Jesus sends people out to find more guest to fill up the table--he is referring to the gentiles...anyone who will follow him.
    • The Marriage and the Resurrection (matt. 22:23-33, mark 12:18-27, luke 20:27-40)--this is directed of course to us as a life lesson--but targeted at the time to the Sadducees--a wealthy  & sophisticated class of people who didn’t believe in the resurrection--but in Jesus time they exerted powerful political and religious influence. -they only excepted the first 5 books of the bible.
    • The Love Commandment (matt. 22:34-40, mark 12:28-34)-- tricks didn’t work with the Sadducees--so the Pharisees gave it another try--with the greatest commandment.--Jesus points out that LOVE is the greatest commandment to follow--it covers the law & the prophets.
    • The Seven Woes (matt. 23:1,mark 12:38, luke 20:45)-- this is targeted at the Pharisees--who wanted to be the best for God--and ended up in some ways of being the worst.  They would teach the message on sundays better than anyone to win souls.  Then outside the church act so ill, that people would follow-which would lead them to hell...thinking they were on their way to God.  Jesus of course understanding our failures, Jesus told them--you must LIVE--what you teach.
    • Signs of the End of the Age (also known in matt.24:1-51) as the Olivet Discourse--you can find this is mark 13 & luke 21--but its is in Matthew chapter 24 and 25 is all  on the end times....the last days...the tribulation...the millenium and so are found.  the parable of the 10 virgins, the talents are about be ready at the rapture.  Will you be saved or left behind.  The sheep and the goats is a good life lesson for  christian example and living, but it prophecy for the days after the tribulation is over, and just before the 1000 yr reign of Jesus..who on the earth as King at this time..judges the goats, and sends them to everlasting punishment.-- I ENCOURAGE YOU to read this carefully.

In closing: Jesus spent the day teaching lessons..to those who wanted them...to those who hated them...to those needed them...to those who hated Him.  Now those will seek and plan to kill Him. Now Jesus will retreat back to Bethany will friends for rest....until the passover in the evening of thursday.

For the Saints and for the Lamb.

    Fig Tree & the Temple

Jesus spent last friday with friends in Bethany, and to be anointed by mary with oil for His burial to come.  There is no good info in scriptures on saturday on what Jesus did , and as customs were at the time, Jesus probably stayed there over the weekend continuing to fellowship with friends.  It’s monday now, Jesus is on his travels to the temple, but before arriving he stops along the way for breakfast at a nearby fig tree.....

The next morning as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. He noticed a fig tree in full leaf a little way off, so he went over to see if he could find any figs. But there were only leaves because it was too early in the season for fruit. Then Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat your fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.” Mark 12:12-14, Matthew 21:18-22

Before we start---have in mind---when reading anyone of the gospels of Jesus, you have to know every incident written of Jesus--- there was one or more lessons from everything He did.  There is much background you can study on the fig tree as it was not generally in season this time of year.  Without getting into too much details here, there were leaves on this tree and therefore should have been fruit as well, but there was no fruit on the fig tree.

Israel often was represented by the fig tree.  Today Jesus would curse this tree for finding it had no fruit, and later dump tables and chairs at the temple.  He was taking serious notice to the spiritual condition of Israel.  The fig tree was a symbol to Israel of good times...of blessings....of prosperity.  To have the fig tree die, showed judgement and rejection of Israel. In short: Israel was religious on the outside & dead on the inside.  Like a fig tree with leaves and no fruit--you walk up to knowing it should have fruit, and once you look inside the tree you find it bears no fruit. Israel was faking their fellowship with God.

Interesting note: while Matt. 21 shows the curse & death at the sametime.  Mark 12 shows the death happen the next day when they traveled again to Jerusalem.  It died from the the roots to the top, a good illustration that Israel was spiritually dead, and it started from the roots up.  I’m sure Jesus knew this message would be prevalent for us today with our spiritual walk in Him---so please take a moment and LQQK at your heart condition...... on we go with their travels to the temple....

When they arrived back in Jerusalem, Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the people buying and selling animals for sacrifices. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves, and he stopped everyone from using the Temple as a marketplace. He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:12-17, Mark 11:15-17, Luke 19:45

Same teaching at the temple only Jesus as much more outward attitude shown. The gentiles were selling animals for sacrifice, charging  unfair prices, overall everyone was there was worshiping their profits, and not worshiping God with prayer.  As always Jesus works in unthinkable ways to us.  There are multiple lessons to be learned here.  Jesus made a scene to cleanse the temple of what was going on at the moment--trading God for pagan....He was also announcing His coming judgement on Israel, his actions show that He had the power to back it up.  Ask yourself--who  comes in to the holy temple...... in front of the people, priest & the temple guards.......wrecks the place, and walks away un-touch.  The Master of the Universe= Jesus thats who !!! However those against Him..who have the most to lose...are now stepping up there evil plans to have Jesus murdered.......

What do we take away here: God wants His trees (christians) to  bear much fruit.  Not to have beautiful green leaves and then no fruit ,or a religious show for the world. This is what Israel did here, and its not working out so well for them. LISTEN--the world will come to your fig tree, because they see the green leaves (your outward christian appearance) and expecting figs there because their hungry (their conscience is pushing them), and they will want the figs for food (the gospel message), when they look inside and find the tree bears no figs for food (your true heart toward God),they will leave, and never want to come back to this tree for food. This is how we lose the lost to the world. This is the message Jesus was trying to teach, This is why he cleansed Israel, this is why He will cleanse your heart if its not right.

Soldiers---today search your heart--find out what kind of true growth in Jesus you have.  If you find some deadness--cleanse it before Jesus does a house cleaning of His own. Go to your brothers and sisters for prayer..... Go to Jesus before he comes to you, pray..seek forgiveness..and produce a great crop for fruit (the gospel)...those that are hungry (the lost) will come LQQKing for it.

Missions of the Messiah- last 10 days of Jesus

Day: 10=Service at Supper  (Matt. 26:6-13, Mark 14:3-9, John 12:1-13)

This story in my heart tells me this is the start of the end for Jesus Ministry on Earth. You will find other thoughts on the matter. One thing is for sure—This last week of Jesus becomes the most important week in history…on the earth…..in the heavens. It’s the ultimate battle of good and evil……both will be cranked up……both will look to be victorious…..only one can, and will win the war= JESUS.

I could have started off with Palm Sunday. I started here, as I think this is where it truly begins. Jesus is taking a weekend to relax & reflect, as He prepares for the week ahead.  He is also  prepared for the week ahead…and so here we go…..

Six days before the Passover celebration began, Jesus arrived in Bethany, the home of Lazarus—the man he had raised from the dead. A dinner was prepared in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, and Lazarus was among those who ate with him. Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance. –John 12:1-3

Jesus shows for dinner, and i'm sure some much needed  down time to visit with friends. He stays at simon’s house—who once was an outcast with leprosy, and visits with close friends. As He is there mary takes a very expensive perfume & pours it onto Jesus feet. (pause & picture it)

There are many reasons why this took place
     (1) Service: she recognizes her King, her Messiah, and honors Him this way, by anointing Him as King. Done in the private, not in public, as Jesus does not need the approval of Men, but obeys according to His Father in heaven.
     (2) While anointing Jesus as King she is also preparing him for Burial, and she understands what He has come to do, and what He must do. I can only imagine what she felt, maybe both sadness, and honor she was chosen for this task.
     (3) I believe Jesus also wanting to re-enforce from past teachings that giving freely is from the heart, and otherwise is not giving freely. Mary showed great service and gratitude to our King. I believe there are two reason Mary is remembered for this; 1) she showed great faith, and gratitude to our King. 2) A life lesson for us to live and learn over, and again.

We know this because Judas and the others complained about the so-called mis-use of the perfume. Judas of course justifying the complaining by stating it could have been used for the poor. When in reality if you read on in john. 12:4-8 you will see that judas just wanted the money for himself. Jesus defended her with these words: “Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” John 12:7-8

He tells the disciples and us again here…He is getting ready to be crucified, and it’s one day closer to real, as she as prepared me in advance for my burial. He shoots down judas’ excuse for the money by telling judas and the others that He is the reason in this season, and the poor will still be here after this week is gone. You can serve them then. Sadly we see the disciples would not fully understand this day until much later.  Focusing on "material", not the "mission"

In closing on  day 10, it is not just a time for friends, and family. It was also a time for Jesus to prepare for the week that would last eternity.  It was a day for Jesus to teach "others before yourself" the very thing Jesus is being prepared for this weekend.   Mary’s mission was to prepare and serve Jesus. Jesus defends those like Mary…honest…humble…faithful…courageous….great-full who are full of gratitude for their King….a King that will soon return the favor in a way that can’t be measured.

The next day-saturday is the sabbath, nothing much is mentioned in the gospels..Jesus would have spent this day in traditional fashion with friends & family, mostly likely still at simon's home with Lazuras, mary, and martha.

Lord willing...i will see you sunday for The Palms of Praise

    Whats a Christian's True Fight ?

“Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.” 1 Peter 2:16 (esv)

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,”Isaiah 61:1 (esv)

Last week i twittered on an attack on religious freedom http://www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=1562584

I realized i could do that several times a day...it happens so often.  It is important to pray against these attacks, and for the suffering of christians when they happen we need to stand up as christians for Christ--stand for the Cause of Christ (read psalm 35)

I also began to realize something else.....that these attacks are coming faster & faster because in conclusion time is running out....the age of grace will end (Romans 11:25) (which i believe started with Peter & the 1st Church & will end at the Rapture of the Church.) & the Lord is coming soon (hebrew 3:7)

We as christians are not here to make the U.S.A. a better place.  It’s a good thing to do...but it’s not a christians  primary goal.  We are just visitors on this rock (John 15:19 ).  TO RESCUE THE LOST. that is our primary goal.  The Bible makes it very clear, that it doesnt get better, it actually will get worse (read Matthew chapter 24).  Overall you can’t change that.  Yes, we can make small areas of positive change & situations better, and Yes we can pray for delay, and the bible shows that God can--and will-- delay, to rescue more lost off the battlefield (Psalm 71:1). Please understand--God's WILL--will prevail in the end & part of that will says that there will be tough times in the last days that we can't stop---so what do we do: ?

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere  Ephesians 6:-13-18 (nlt)--learn the right way to attack (the word), Learn how to defend (faith), Learn what & how to pray..--seek this from your brothers & sisters, and pray for them as well.  Stay strong as God’s army for True Christian Freedom.

This is it !!!--read this passage over & over again-this is how we should fight the B.A.T.T.L.E.O.F.S.O.U.L.S.--for lost souls--this is how we should grow as christians; how we should war against our flesh--how to block satan when were tempted--how to help others to do the same, how to study & know the bible, how to become prayer warriors that cant-be-stopped. ((i will break this down in detail starting right after ressurection weekend)))

Don’t fight against the  politician making the laws against us=pray 4 a change of heart -Don’t hate the activist group who tries to silence us or lobbies for laws to change against us= pray 4 there heart to change....The change for the better does’nt happen  in Washington D.C....it happens in the heart....that is where God is waiting.  At the heart.  We don’t wrestle against flesh & blood...its the devil behind the scenes causing all this. Don't take the fight to the devil...  Let God & His angel army worry about them.  God’s will--will still roll on....as planned.  We should  focus on sharing the gospel.....saving souls....rescuing the lost off the battlefield.  Loving others--being self sacrificial--When the enemy sees us, they should say--"thats the samething Jesus says in the bible"  that is a true disciple of Jesus--a freedom fighter for the cause--an armored soul for the battle.
This is the true fight, LET'S BE VICTORIOUS FOR JESUS---NOT VICTIMS FOR THE devil.  Stay strong.... FOR THE SAINTS & FOR THE LAMB

Next week we will began the the Last 10 days of Jesus Earthly Ministry.... Where Jerusalem became the battleground hot zone, and how Jesus became the the victor of the War of wars, and guaranteed our true freedom...forever.

    A DECISION…. A DESTINY

“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell  is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14) (nlt)

Life is a choice…..it’s an important choice…..it becomes a final decision to a lasting destiny.  There is only 2 choices to your destiny…Heaven…..Hell….  Both sides want you….only one side cares for you.  The devil cares nothing for you, but if it means taking you from God—then he wants to take YOU.  He will wait for you…snatch you when your unaware…and destroy you (1 Peter 5:8).

Now man will tell you…teach you…train you that you are your own master…in control of your destiny. This kind of thinking comes from satan who orchestrates these kind of thoughts from an  unseen world (Ephesians 2:2).   God says while your choice to accept Him in your heart is yours….It’s God’s Master Plan that will succeed, and if yours is not in-line with His….you lose (Proverbs 19:21) .

Despite this sounding a little doom & gloom.  God wants you to come home.  He didn’t create you to be a robot, He created  you with free will so that when you make your own choice to come home—It was because YOU wanted to, not because HE maid you.

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.” (2 Peter 3:9) (nlt).
